What is EMDR Therapy

Today I am going talk about my opinion about the EMDR Therapy

EMDR Therapy means eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy is a form of psychotherapy that was designed to alleviate the distress association with traumatic memories. It was developed by Francine Shapiro in 1998, and it has proven to be effective in treating conditions such us post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and anxiety.

The theory behind the edmr is that the patient begins to associate their past trauma with this new stimulus, there by becoming desensitized to distressing imagery. The biggest difference between the emdr and other therapy is that EMDR often doesn’t require the patient to discuss the distressing issues in great detail. Although, EMDR therapy has been shown to help millions of people since its inception in 1998.
